Why Check Vehicle Insurance Status Online?

How to Check Vehicle Insurance Status Online — 3 Methods

1 Via Vahan Portal (Most Accurate)

  1. Go to the official Vahan portal at vahan.parivahan.gov.in
  2. Click on "Know Your Vehicle Details" from the menu.
  3. Enter your vehicle registration number and solve the captcha.
  4. Click "Search" to retrieve the records.
  5. Scroll down to the "Insurance Validity" field in the results to see the exact expiry date.

2 Via IIB Portal (Insurance Information Bureau)

  1. Go to the official IIB website at iib.gov.in
  2. Click on "Vehicle Insurance Details".
  3. Enter the vehicle registration number.
  4. The insurance details will appear — including the company name, policy number, and validity date.

3 Via mParivahan App

  1. Open the mParivahan app on your smartphone.
  2. Enter the vehicle number plate in the search bar.
  3. The insurance validity will be shown directly in the vehicle profile dashboard.

Types of Vehicle Insurance in India

Third-Party Insurance Mandatory

Covers damage to other people, vehicles, and property in case of an accident. Does NOT cover your own vehicle damages. This is the minimum legal requirement.

Comprehensive Insurance Recommended
